Each year, the AIxNEXT Society recognizes individuals and teams who demonstrate outstanding achievement in advancing artificial intelligence to the next level. The awards will be presented at AIxNEXT conferences, providing a platform to recognize and celebrate contributions that shape the future of AI.

AIxNEXT Society Award — recognizes an outstanding individual or team whose pioneering work opens up a new direction, paradigm, capability, or frontier for artificial intelligence. The award honors contributions that have the potential to influence the future development of AI through significant advances in theory, methods, systems, applications, or new forms of AI-enabled problem solving. The award is intended to recognize not merely excellence in applying existing AI, but individuals and teams who expand the boundaries of AI and help define what AI can become next.

AIxNEXT Society Fellows — recognizes individuals who have made sustained and distinguished contributions to advancing AI and shaping its future through research, innovation, education, practice, leadership, or community building. Fellowship is intended as a lifetime-level distinction recognizing individuals whose achievements and influence have had a significant and lasting impact on the development and advancement of AI.

Together, the AIxNEXT Society Awards and Fellowships recognize both breakthrough achievements and sustained contributions—from individuals and teams opening new directions for AI to leaders who have helped build and advance the AI community over time.

GPS and Discovery Factory Awards

​

The AIxNEXT Society recognizes not merely excellence in AI today, but those who discover, build, solve, contribute, mentor, influence, and help define what AI can become next. In the context of GPS and Discovery Factory, the AIxNEXT Society recognizes individuals and teams who demonstrate outstanding achievement in discovering, creating, solving, and sharing knowledge and solutions. Awards may be presented at different levels, from K–12 students to higher-education students, faculty, researchers, and practitioners, with evaluation criteria appropriate to each community.​

• Outstanding Discovery Awards — recognize outstanding discoveries of new problems, questions, insights, knowledge, opportunities, or relationships that open new directions for exploration and innovation.

• Outstanding Builder Awards — recognize outstanding achievements in turning ideas, discoveries, or knowledge into useful artifacts, including models, algorithms, software, tools, experiments, systems, and other working solutions.

• ​

• Outstanding Problem-Solving Awards — recognize innovative and effective solutions to meaningful or challenging problems, particularly those that demonstrate rigorous reasoning, creative approaches, and effective use of available knowledge, methods, and tools.

• Outstanding Contribution Awards — recognize significant contributions to the Discovery Factory, including knowledge mapping and other contributions that enable others to discover, build, and solve problems.

• Outstanding Student Awards — recognize outstanding achievements by students in discovery, building, problem solving, contribution, or other activities that exemplify the spirit of the Discovery Factory. Awards may be presented at different educational or grade levels.

• Outstanding Mentor Awards — recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and effectiveness in guiding, encouraging, and empowering others in their discovery, building, and problem-solving journeys. The awards recognize mentors who help students develop their capabilities, pursue meaningful challenges, learn from failure, and become independent contributors to the Discovery Factory.

• Outstanding Impact Awards — recognize individuals or teams whose discoveries, solutions, creations, or contributions have had exceptional influence or impact on people, communities, education, research, industry, or society.

Collectively, the GPS and Discovery Factory Awards recognize the full cycle of discovery and creation: discovering meaningful problems and knowledge, building new capabilities and artifacts, solving important problems, contributing discoveries and solutions for others to use, nurturing the next generation of discoverers, and creating lasting influence.
