The AIxNEXT courses are offered online, exclusively through AIxNEXT affiliated conferences. AIxNEXT courses are more than tutorials as they are concise courses with 8-12 hours of lectures taught in 2-4 weeks (Meeting times are jointly determined by the faculty and students enrolled).

 

Each registration includes a complimentary in-person registration of an affiliated conference to meet the faculty and other students in person. A minimum enrollment is required for each course. Registration fee will be refunded if a course is cancelled.

Joseph Barr

Dr. Joseph (“Joe”) Barr is an entrepreneur and a published researcher in the field of machine learning. He’s an adjunct professor of cybersecurity at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Prescott, Arizona), and runs http://barranalytics.com a boutique consulting firm specializing in building and integrating AI into a production environment.

 

Joe's past roles included VP of Research of Acronis SCS where he leads the research group dedicated to development of unique IP related to cybersecurity and privacy. One of the accomplishments of the research team was the development of a method which rates vulnerability risk of source code. Earlier he was Chief Analytics Officer at Home Union where he led a team of data scientists and engineers to develop price/rent valuation (AVM) models, a real-time pricing product “The Right Bid”, neighborhood investment risk score “NIR”, a risk-adjusted ROI “RealEstimate”, and a unique home price index “HU HPI”. Prior to that he was the Chief Data Scientist at ID Analytics (which was acquired by Lifelock where his responsibilities included developing fraud prevention products “ID Score” and “IM Score”, and a subprime consumer credit risk scores “Credit Optics”. Other roles include CTO at Chi Analytics where he developed products for the collections and payday loan industry.

 

Joe’s experience in the financial services sector spans more than two decades, including senior roles at ABN-AMRO/LaSalle Banks of Chicago, Fanny Mae and First American. Dr. Barr has written several dozen scholarly articles on machine learning, NLP, econometrics and deep learning. He also teaches a graduate level Machine Learning class at San Diego State University. His PhD is in mathematics from the University of New Mexico. 

David Ostrowski

Dr. David Alfred Ostrowski has over 30 years professional experience in software development in the auto industry between the areas of product ideation, connected vehicle analytics, Intelligent controls, manufacturing simulation, agent-based modeling, database and real-time data acquisition. David is currently the CTO and founder of Tayno LLC which concentrates on software consulting and product ideation with a concentration on Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Based data Science and Blockchain Technologies.  Dr. Ostrowski is also an adjunct professor at Northwestern University and Lawrence Technological University.

David received his B.B.A. in Management Information Systems from University of Michigan-Dearborn as well as an  M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wayne State University. Dr. Ostrowski has fifty refereed publications,  seventeen patents (US, CH, GE) , two book chapters, numerous technical reports, and participates within several technical committees including IEEE TEC transactions, IEEE ICSC, IEEE AI4I and IEEE ICIOS.
